Our guests often comment on the convenient location of Cider Cottage. The secluded coves and quaint harbours of the south coast are so near, stunning moor land is on the doorstep and the more rugged coastline in the north is close enough to visit even for just an afternoon.

One fine sunny afternoon in June
we chose to visit the Rumps and Pentire Point for a circular walk.

The Rumps are located on the north coast near New Polzeath and its large sandy beach. It's well known that Prime Minister David Cameron chooses to holiday near here each summer.

It was a lovely walk and there is a chance of spotting dolphins, seals and sunfish as you make your way around the headland. We saw a seal and numerous seabirds including puffins and guillemots.

There is a plaque located near Pentire Point commemorating the famous poem “For the fallen” - this very poignant poem was composed in this stunning location in 1914.

We continued around the headland and there was time to visit the beach for a paddle in the sea, before heading back to the car park, after a very enjoyable visit to the north coast.  A Cornish cream tea on the way home rounded off the afternoon a treat.

In Feb 2021 Keith and Karen Burden took ownership of Cider Cottage whilst Lynn and Peter the previous owners moved closer to the sea to explore and enjoy more of a coastal life.
Karen and Keith want to  keep up the very high standards set by the previous owners and very much look forward to welcoming guests again as soon as Government restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so.
Lynn and Peter Murnaghan moved from Winchester, Hampshire to Woodhill Manor in Summer 2011. We then spent a good deal of time and energy renovating Cider Cottage to create a fabulous self-catering holiday venue for discerning guests.
