Plenty of beauty and no beast on Bodmin Moor.

Bodmin moor with its wonderful mining heritage, granite tors, standing stones and mysterious legends is just a 10 minute drive from Cider Cottage.  There is plenty to explore on the moor with its dramatic scenery and spectacular views and the walk to Stowes Hill is our favourite.

Stowe's Hill
Just a short walk, approx 25mins, brings you to the famous Cheesewring which is a natural geological formation, a rock outcrop of granite slabs formed by weathering. The Cheesewring gets its name from the “cheeses” of severely squashed apple pulp that are produced in traditional cider making - very appropriate for a visit from Cider Cottage.

The views are stunning and there are other spectacular rock formations on Stowe’s Hill, it’s a photographer’s dream.

The hurlers
You can return to your car via the Hurlers a unique Bronze Age monument consisting of 3 circles of standing stones. And perhaps call into the Visitors Centre housed in an old mine engine building. You might wish to linger in Minions, the highest village in Cornwall, and enjoy a famous Cornish cream tea in one of the cafes, or enjoy some Cornish cider in the Pub, before returning to relax in Cider Cottage.

In Feb 2021 Keith and Karen Burden took ownership of Cider Cottage whilst Lynn and Peter the previous owners moved closer to the sea to explore and enjoy more of a coastal life.
Karen and Keith want to  keep up the very high standards set by the previous owners and very much look forward to welcoming guests again as soon as Government restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so.
Lynn and Peter Murnaghan moved from Winchester, Hampshire to Woodhill Manor in Summer 2011. We then spent a good deal of time and energy renovating Cider Cottage to create a fabulous self-catering holiday venue for discerning guests.
