Buzzards are seen daily and their call is often heard alerting us to look up for these wonderful large birds soaring above.
Woodpeckers can be heard in the woods and owls frequently visit during the night. We mostly hear the tawny with its familiar twit-twoo sound, which is in fact two different birds calling to each other, one with the twit and the other answering with the woo. We have also heard barn owls and little owls on occasion too.
We have a friendly pheasant called Horatio and he is often seen in Cider Cottage’s garden, or sat on the gate or wall, hoping he stays out of sight of the fox who also visits occasionally.
Hedgehogs are around often and mostly come out after dusk, but we seem to have a bold little one around at the moment who can be seen scuttling about during the day.
Much more common is this cheeky squirel that decided to have a peek in our window one day.
Lastly, our least wild visitor is Archie, the cat with no tail, who is always around, with his own unique personality.
So you never know who might pay a visit during a stay here in Cornwall.
